Simple Requirements

Completion requirement
Complete ALL of the following Courses:

Students are required to take this class in their first or second quarter at TCC. 

Exemptions: 

  • Students who have completed 30 or more credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher at TCC before beginning a degree that requires College 101. 

  • Students who transfer in 30 or more credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.  

  • Students who have an Associate or Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution. 

  • Students who have a Bachelor’s degree from another country.  

  • Students who have successfully completed an equivalent success course at another institution. 

  • Students who have successfully completed HD 101 (prior to Fall 2022), FRSH 100 or ABE 019 at TCC.

Students who are granted an exemption from COL 101 will need to complete additional college level elective credits to complete the required 90 credits for the degree.

  • MATH&146 is required for the Sociology Specialization.

  • Students who are seeking to strengthen their skill base with pre-requisite topics can take course concurrently with MATH&146.

  • Courses must be selected from at least two disciplines (two different prefix areas).

  • No more than 10 credits allowed from any one discipline

  • No more than 5 credits in world language at the 100 level.

  • No more than 5 credits in performance/skill (P/S) courses may be used to satisfy this requirement

Earn at least 15 credits from the following:

course - Multicultural Communication (Multicultural Course)
course - Spanish I (Multicultural Course)

•    Courses must be selected from at last two disciplines
•    No more than 10 credits allowed from any one discipline

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:

Select 5 credits from the Social Science distribution course list from a discipline other than Sociology.

Earn at least 5 credits from the following:

course - Survey of Anthropology (Multicultural Course)
course - General Psychology

  • Courses must be selected from at least two disciplines.

  • Must include at least 10 credits from the courses listed as Biological, Earth, and Physical Sciences on the Natural Sciences Distribution Course List. 

  • No more than 10 credits allowed from any one discipline

  • Must include at least one laboratory course

  • No more than 5 credits allowed from a MATH prefixed course

Fulfill ALL of the following requirements:

Recommend choosing from:
course - Biological Anthropology
course - Introduction to Environmental Science w/Lab
course - Introductory Topics in Natural Science w/Lab

AND
Earn at least 5 credits from the following:

  • Select from courses listed under the Communication, Quantitative/Symbolic Reasoning, Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Physical Education, or General Distribution Courses sections of the Approved Distribution Course List

  • No more than three PE activity credits may be applied toward the degree. PE activity courses are listed on the Approved Physical Education Distribution course list.

Students must select two courses not used to satisfy Social Science Distribution requirement.

Earn at least 5 credits from the following:

course - Spanish I (Multicultural Course)

Select any 10 credits from college level courses numbered 100 or above. No more than three PE activity credits may be applied toward the degree.

Recommend choosing from:
course - Spanish II (Multicultural Course)
course - Spanish III (Multicultural Course)

Completion requirement
  • At least five credits applied to the degree must be an approved multicultural course.

  • Students may apply a Multicultural Designated course from the Communication, Humanities, or Social Sciences DIstribution Course List to both a Distribution Requirement and the Multicultural Requirement. This does not change the 90 quarter credit requirement.
